Delray's Kids and Cops gives scholarships to 13

DELRAY BEACH — The Delray Citizen for Delray Police Kids and Cops Program presented 13 $500 scholarships to students at the Atlantic Community High School Senior Awards ceremony on May 12.

Since 1999, the Delray Citizens for Delray Police Kids and Cops Program has awarded scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Qualifications for the scholarships focus on academics, volunteer efforts and financial need. To date, the Kids and Cops Program has awarded over $30,000 in scholarships to deserving students.

Congratulations to this year's recipients: Jeffrey Phillips, Grace Maybee, Stephanie Schwarz, Farrah Zahangir, Takaunia Carstsarphen, Kevin Cornielle, Emma Golemblewski, Shamarukh Kabir, Heather Bromfield, Danna Lauricin, Shnightdine Aristil, Kristin Francis and Ravina Zamon.

The Delray Citizens for Delray Police Kids and Cops Program was established to strengthen the relationships between local youth and members of the Delray Beach Police Department. Board members representing the City, middle and elementary schools oversee the program under the direction of Co-Chairs Delray Beach Police Officer Jeffrey Messer and City of Delray Beach Litter Prevention Coordinator Jennifer Buce.
