Exit Atlantic opens in Pineapple Grove

DELRAY BEACH — Perhaps it’s a leap of faith, moving a real estate office amidst the worst real estate markets in decades.
But that’s exactly what Joseph Feldkamp and Kathleen Ambridge have done, moving Exit Atlantic International Realty to Delray’s Pineapple Grove district. The office, which employs 40 agents and two office wokers, held its grand opening Thursday with representatives of the Delray Chamber and members of the city commission present.
“It was a little scary in January and February,” Feldkamp said after Thursday’s ceremonies, “but in March deals started to close. I’m optimistic about 2009.
“We’re actually seeing more than one offer on certain deals. It’s a good sign.”
Exit is a franchise, one of handful in Palm Beach County. The company has a greater presence in Broward.
The Delray office had been housed on Atlantic Avenue near the Intracoastal for about 2 ½ years. It moved to Pineapple Grove in March, putting it closer to the heart of downtown, and nearer to where much of its business has been, Feldkamp said.
Besides residential, the office handles commercial deals and some rentals as well.
Mayor Woodie McDuffie thanked Feldkamp and Ambridge for remaining in Delray. He said the move was a show of faith in the city’s economy that will also contribute to Delray’s economic future.
“Small business is the life blood of Delray Beach, and we wish you success,” McDuffie said.
Said Commissioner Gary Eliopoulos: “I am confident, totally convinced, that we will come bouncing back.”
Also on hand for the grand opening: Commissioner Fred Fetzer and Beth Johnston and Suzy Sims of the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce.
The new office is at 279 NE 2nd Avenue.
