FAU college golf tournament to begin at Gleneagles

The third annual Florida Atlantic University Spring Break College Golf Tournament at Gleneagles Country Club on West Allantic Avenue in suburban Delray Beach got underway Thursday with ceremonies that included the Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce.

The 17-team field played a practice round on Thursday and will compete on the 18-hole course, which measures more than 6,500 yards from the blue tees, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Teams tee off at 11:30 on Friday and Saturday, and at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

This year's field is comprised of five Big Ten schools. Along with FAU, the following are slated to participate: University of Connecticut, DePaul University, Eastern Michigan University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Marquette University, Marshall University, University of Miami (Ohio), Michigan State University, University of Minnesota, Murray State University, University of Nebraska, USF, Northern Illinois, Northwestern University, Ohio State University, and the University of Wisconsin.

The University of Illinois won the event last year.

The event is free and open to spectators. Fans can follow the results here.

Gleneagles Country Club is located west of King's Point on the south side of Atlantic Avenue.
