Gas, diesel prices hold steady

DELRAY BEACH — Gasoline prices pretty much sat still over the past week, nudging up ever so slightly, according to Monday’s reports from the U.S. Energy Information Administration and AAA.
Regular averages $2.059 a gallon nationally, compared to $2.051 a week ago and $1.962 a month ago, according to EIA.
In Florida, regular is averaging $2.094 a gallon, up from $2.091 a week ago and $1.982 a month ago.
AAA’s Fuel Gauge report had regular going for an average of $2.176 a gallon in Palm Beach County, up from $2.071. As usual, the local market is the most expensive in Florida. Miami was No. 2 at $2.151 a gallon; Orlando has the cheapest at $2.055.
Prices have risen steadily since December. Crude prices and gasoline futures, however, have traded within a tight range the last few weeks.
On Monday, crude dropped more than $4 a barrel to less than $47, while gasoline was down more than 8 cents to about $1.41 a gallon.
While gasoline prices have risen ever so slightly, diesel prices dropped by a similar about. EIA put the national average at $2.21 a gallon, down from $2.229 a week ago.
AAA put the Palm Beach County average for diesel at $2.383 a gallon.
