Garlic Fest begins in Delray Beach
You know it's Garlic Fest when you can smell the food a mile away.
Volunteers and vendors get ready for the start of Delray Beach's annual Garlic Fest.

DELRAY BEACH – Delray Beach's annual salute to allium sativum is underway. The three-day celebration known as Garlic Fest begins Friday evening and runs through Sunday. Workers were putting final touches on booths and displays throughout Old School Square Park.
Gates open Friday at 5 p.m., with the Texas Party Killers the first act on the main entertainment stage at 5:30. The Fabulous Fleetwoods perform at 6 and Grateful Dead tribute band Dark Star Orchestra perform at 7:30 until 11 p.m. Saturday's entertainment includes Buddy Guy at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday's lineup include Amber Leigh at 2 p.m.
Gates open Saturday at 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. until 7p.m. Admission is $10 each day.
The festival features food, cooking demonstrations, rides and games for kids, and a ton of vendor booths. Visit the Garlic Festival website fore more info.
Proceeds benefit local charities who provide volunteers for th event. Last year, the festival generated more than $22,000 for charities and over its history more than $279,000.
