Broward man charged with lying to the SBA for Wilma loan

By Palm Beach Business.com

FORT LAUDERDALE — A Broward man has been charged with making false statements to the Small Business Administration in order to get a loan to repair his home, supposedly damaged during Hurricane Wilma in 2005.

According to court documents, Ronald Jansson, 59, applied to the SBA for $143,700 in loans in order to repair his Miramar home, claiming it was damaged by the hurricane. Investigators discovered that the home actually had been damaged before Wilma.

Court records also allege that Jansson fabricated and altered expense invoices, receipts, work estimates, proposals and contracts and submitted the paperwork to the SBA in order to justify the loan.

Jansson is scheduled to appear in federal district court next week.
