FORT LAUDERDALE — A federal grand jury has indicted the owner of a Sunrise tax preparation business for allegedly conspiring to file false tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service.
The U.S. attorney for South Florida announced the indicted of Shingirai Kasu, 31, formerly of Coconut Creek on Friday. Kasu, the owner of Right Quick Tax Services in Sunrise, faces a maximum of 10 years in prison if convicted.
According to the indictment, Kasu and two others allegedly prepared tax returns that contained false and inflated claims for income tax withholding credits and telephone excise tax refund credits in order to jack up the tax refunds due their clients.
