DELRAY BEACH — The Delray Beach Lions Club has made a tradition of supporting the Delray Beach Public Library, raising funds to buy materials for the visually impaired. That tradition continues in 2012.
John Parke, a member of the Lions Club recently presented a $500 check to library Director Alan Kornblau to buy large-print books and books-on-tape and other materials.
“The Library is very grateful to the Lions Club for their ongoing support and generosity to help the visually impaired in our community,” Kornblau said.
The Delray Beach Lions Club has supported the library since 1939. It has been giving a gift of $500 to the Delray Beach Public library twice a year since 2001 for a total of $11,000. The library’s collection of such materials is quite extensive and extremely popular due to the continued support of the Lions Club.
The club also presented the Library with a certificate of appreciation for collecting and maintaining large print books and recordings for library patrons in Delray Beach and surrounding communities who have sight problems.
