United Way looking for 'Day of action' support

By Palm Beach Business.com

BOYNTON BEACH – United Way of Palm Beach County is looking for companies and organizations to participate in its upcoming “Day of Action” on Monday, June 21. On that day, United Way will hold a fitness field day at the YMCA of the Palm Beaches in Boynton Beach from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

More than 100 of the YMCA’s summer campers, ages 4-10, will participate in the fitness field day. United Way seeks volunteers to help oversee and sponsor fitness games such as the three-legged race, jump rope, relay and wheel barrow race, basketball and much more.

For example, the group which volunteers for the three-legged race would not only be there to coordinate the race, but also needs to provide 12 cloth ties for the competition.  A list of the games and the items needed for each is available by contacting Donna Pulda, Volunteer Center Manager, at (561) 375-6621 or via e-mail: donnapulda@unitedwaypbc.org

“Day of Action” is part of a nationwide event for United Way organizations and is being held on June 21 because it is the longest day of the year.

“United Way’s National Day of Action is a call to action for individuals to live united in their community. It is a perfect day to let your actions speak louder than words and to show how you give, advocate and volunteer in your community,” said Charles Anderson, president and CEO, United Way of Palm Beach County.

United Way of Palm Beach County targets the community’s most pressing needs and focuses resources, agency partnerships and the energy of volunteers to create measurable results that have the greatest impact. To invest, volunteer, or for more information, call United Way of Palm Beach County at (561) 375-6600 or visit www.unitedwaypbc.org
