DELRAY BEACH — It’s tennis time in Delray Beach. Workers, volunteers, vendors, and tennis players were spending Thursday on final preparations for the start of the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships, which begin Friday night at the municipal tennis center on West Atlantic Avenue.

The Champions tournament begins Friday evening, with two matches: Pat Cash vs. Carlos Moya at 7 p.m. and Ivan Lendl vs. Jimmy Arias after 9 p.m. Lendl, winner of eight grand slam tournaments and third all-time winner, headlines the event.

Top-ranked American John Isner (13th in the world, according to the ATP) and Boca Raton product Andy Roddick (27th) are scheduled to compete in the World Tour event next week. Tommy Haas, the 2006 tournament champion, will appear as well.

Bob and Mike Bryan, currently the top-ranked doubles team in world, are scheduled to compete in the doubles competition.

Qualifying rounds for the ATP World Tour event begin Saturday.
